Water plays a central and primary role in our lives – it is the source of life itself. Every living creature begins its journey in water, and the fetus in the womb develops while wrapped and protected by amniotic fluid. The human body is made up of about 70% water, and our brain contains about 85% water. It is no wonder that in many cultures around the world, the stories of the creation of the world begin with water. This deep and natural connection to water makes it an especially powerful therapeutic and projection tool. How does it work in the clinic? Using a unique water table – which includes a container of water, paints, plasticine, animal figures and a variety of creative materials – patients are invited to create their own “water world”. This creative space bypasses the usual verbal defenses and allows adults and children alike to: Express deep feelings that are difficult to express in words. Tell their personal story freely and safely. Process experiences and traumas in an inclusive and flowing environment. Go through deep psychological processes that lead to growth, healing and change. Alongside working with water, in my clinic water and sand are combined together: The combination of a water table and a sand table creates a complete, tangible and multi-sensory therapeutic space, which allows direct contact with the most primal elements of the soul and provides an even broader and deeper response to each patient.
The unique learning method developed by Dr. Bella Nowicki is based on the insight that personal growth and true creativity always stem from each person’s inner and unique world. Learning begins “from the gut,” from a deep connection to personal interests, and incorporates a broad, in-depth, and comprehensive view of the world around us. As a therapist, I incorporate these principles into my clinic to help you connect with your inner voice, identify your personal strengths, and thereby grow and make real change in your life.
Childhood and adolescence bring with them magical moments, but also difficulties, turmoil, and dramatic changes that affect the entire family unit. In my clinic, I offer a comprehensive response that combines emotional therapy focused on the child or adolescent, along with close guidance and support for you – the parents.
Group therapy is a powerful therapeutic tool, adapted to deal with a wide range of difficulties, crises and personal needs. The therapeutic group, by its very unique structure, provides a safe space and allows for the examination of complex issues of intimacy, loneliness, belonging and separation. It is suitable for children, adolescents and adults alike – both people dealing with difficulties and emotional disorders, and healthy people seeking to navigate the complexity of everyday life and interested in learning, development and personal growth. How does it work? Focused topics: The groups are built around a common denominator, and focus on specific problems, certain life crises or broad empowerment processes. Meeting structure: The group usually has between 8 and 15 participants (depending on the nature and definition of the group). Frequency: The meetings are held once a week or every two weeks on a regular basis, to create a therapeutic continuity and a significant in-depth process. Within the group space, meeting with people who are experiencing challenges similar to yours creates an immediate sense of relief, reduces the feeling of loneliness and allows you to receive support, provide support and grow together from the shared experience.
Mindfulness and DBT: Living in the moment, freeing ourselves from automatons In the modern world, our thoughts tend to race forward to tomorrow's worries, or to go back to past events. Mindfulness is the ability to bring our attention - in a deliberate, respectful and non-judgmental manner - to the experiences that are happening here and now, with full acceptance of them. The method was developed in the 1970s by Professor Jon Kabat-Zinn, who translated the principles of meditation and Buddhism into a scientific and proven therapeutic tool. Regular practice of mindfulness allows us to identify automatic response patterns, reduce the need for rigid control, develop self-awareness and fundamentally change our relationship with difficulties and human suffering. A winning combination: Mindfulness in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) takes the principles of mindfulness and turns them into practical, everyday skills. As part of the treatment, we practice five core skills that allow us to successfully navigate the world - Feel: Look: Develop a keen awareness of our thoughts and feelings in the moment of truth, without being frightened by them. - Describe: Learn to define in precise words the emotional state we are in - for ourselves and for those around us. - Participate: Develop the ability to be focused, present, and enthusiastic about the activity we are engaged in at a given moment in the present. - Non-judgmental: Experience reality and ourselves without labeling it as "good" or "bad," "appropriate" or "inappropriate." Focus on one thing only: Train the mind to engage in one defined activity at any given time (Mindfulness in the singular). In my clinic, the tools of mindfulness and DBT give you, your child or adolescent the ability to regulate turbulent emotions, replace impulsive patterns with conscious choice, and find inner peace and balance within the complexity of life.
